Duch is back at the Rodeo parade!

Duchis said she was ready for the Rodeo Parade, so we were all back! All of them did fantastically! Of course, the most exciting part was the UH band + UH presidential car. I taught Duch and Tony to do the UH sign with her hands and they both showed their Cougar Pride! Bravo for Duch, Liam, and Tony for enjoying the parade! Bravo for Duch for realizing when she is ready for something she did not enjoy in the past! :)

3rd SonRise playdate!

We hosted today our 3rd SonRise Playdate! It was lots of fun. Tony and Travis had a good time together! Liam was in the backyard with the kids and participated in the parachute game and had snacks with everybody! Duch was a bit shy and stayed in her room, but when Julia went to her room and the boys left her room, she closed the door and spend some time alone with Julia in her room! I asked her later what she had played and she said: "With the stuffed animals". And, when I told her to come say good bye to everybody, she said: "We are having another playdate next Sunday!" :) So, I think she likes them and is getting more used to them. Thanks to Anam for her help during the playdate! Enjoy the pictures!

LIAM

New goals for this month:
1. Conversation of 2 loops or more (when he is engaged already)
2. More complex sentences that contain nouns and verbs and more
3. Diversifying the games plus adding pretend play (birthdays, magic carpets, puppet shows, camping, etc)

Ideas we brainstormed:
- Highlights.com for hidden pictures
- Mad Libs : download some from the internet or create your own on paper or on the white board
- Storyplace.org  : get familiar with these stories because we could play them out or have conversations about them. His favorites are: “Engine engine number 9”, “the fish in the reef”, one about colors, one about a boy in a bathtub, one about a girl singing in a barn, etc.
- Break the ice with words (use markers or scotch tape)
- Cutting with scissors games
- Games with numbers (like chicka chicka 123) and counting by 2s, 5s, or 10s
- We will limit 1 seaweed per session
- Joining by playing something else (the “little people” technique we used with Duch)
- Be aware: “How into the game am I myself?”

First outreach and meeting pictures of 2013

I have been so behind updating the blog. So, here are pictures of the outreach we had with Megan and of the first meeting!

Liam's first movie at the movie theater

Feb 9 was pretty exciting because the 5 of us went to the movie theater for the first time together! We watched “Hotel Transylvania” at the Clear Lake Dollar movie. Liam did great! He sat there and did not cover his ears. Everybody ate movie popcorn (I did not have time to do our own popcorn without the dressings). It was very exciting!

I still remember preparing Duch for her first movie. She went with Jessie to see “Wynnie the Pooh” at the small movie theater in Pearland. We were all nervous, but she did great! Before that, I had already taken Tony for the first time to see “The princess and the frog”. And now, the whole family took Liam to see “Hotel Transylvania”. Very exciting! Here is the picture we have of the event! :)

New bootcamp goals are coming

Our January bootcamp was so successful that we this week I am planning to create new bootcamp goal lists for the kids' posters. Thanks for all your hardwork during the bootcamp. Lunch and Dinner time are so much easier now! Look at Liam! :)

Second Playdate of 2013

This weekend we will be hosting the 3rd playdate that my friends Laura, Mangala and I are having for our kids. Before that, here are the pictures of the 2nd playdate, which was in Laura's house. After two playdates, Duchis is now asking when is the next playdate! Amazing!
